How to Obtain a GMRS License

Obtaining a GMRS license is a simple process that can be completed entirely online through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). No examination is required, and a single license covers the license holder and their immediate family members. The current GMRS license fee is $35, and the license is valid for 10 years.

Before applying for a GMRS license, you must create an account with the FCC's Commission Registration System (CORES).

Your FRN serves as your identifier for all FCC licensing activities.
